Dogs in stores

When I go to the locally owned pet shop or feed store I often see the company cat walking or sleeping somewhere in the store. I have see the occasional store dog at a local garden nursery store.

I would personally love to have a job at a company that would allow me to take my dog along. The local vet has his dog on his ranch calls. One trucker I know has his dog on his short distance runs. Even a local auto parts dealer has his very large Doberman keep him company while he works. He has often joked that the dog is there to protect his Ferrari parts but in reality the dog is a big pussy cat.

To board your dog or not

When you go on vacation, what do you do with your dog? Do you have a friend or neighbor come over to feed and walk your dog? Do you take your dog to a boarding kennel? or do you take your dog with you?

If you are going camping or have an RV then you usually don't have to worry about rules regarding your dog. You just have to check with the camp grounds or the places where you are stopping in your RV to see if they have restrictions on pets.

If you will be staying at a hotel or motel all you have to do is check ahead and find a dog friendly one. More and more extended stay hotels and motels are catering to pet owners. Maybe it is time that your dog join you on your vacation this year.

Human habits in dogs

Does your dog watch TV? Mine doesn't but our cat does. I have relatives who have dogs that watch TV with them. When I am watching TV all my dog wants to do is take a nap next to me.

My father had a dog years ago that would lay in front of his old console TV set and block his view of the TV. That was long before the modern TV set with all of it's components on tall tv stands. Whenever I happen to be visiting he would have to tell the dog to move at least once if he was watching TV. Looking back I wonder if the dog was looking for attention.
