Tear stains on dogs

Light colored dogs are often prone to tear stains. Often the tears are not evident until their light colored fur has developed a stain from the acidic tears. There are many types of eye creams on the market that do an excellent job of removing the stains. Just make sure that the eye cream you choose is non stinging and has no questionable ingredients. Of course you should always have your dog checked by your vet to eliminate the underlying cause of the excessive tearing. it could be caused by seasonal allergies or a foreign object in the dog's eyes.

Hey there,

As you have stated there are many creams- some better than others.

There are also food additivies that you put in the food that actually stop the stains in the first place.

One is angels eyes- this works very well but uses an antibiotic called tylosin.

A safer and natural alternative is Angels Delight from Bichon Hotel.

The former takes about 4 weeks whilst the latter takes about 5 weeks.
